This tour will take up north to the Ecuadorian Andes, it's a journey that will take you throughout Quito and small indigenous towns like Otavalo and its indigenous until arriving to Polylepis,where only 50 people are allowed to come into this fragile ecosystem every day.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1: Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

DAY 2: City Tour in Quito, Ecuador’s capital. This city is a combination of colonial and modern architecture, reason why it was declared Cultural Heritage of the World in 1978 by UNESCO. The churches constructed by the Spaniards during the colony are the ones that stand out because of their impressive altars made of gold. Then we’ll leave the city and head to the north visiting San Pablo Lake on our way and the different towns like San Antonio de Ibarra, known for its wood-carved handicrafts, and towns like Cotacachi, known for their leather goods. We will visit El Angel City located at 1500 meters from the sea level.
Arrival to “Polylepis Lodge” located at El Angel Ecological Reserve in Carchi. You’ll take an amazing night walk while listening old histories about dwarfs through Polylepis woods similar to the woods from “Lord of the Rings” movie. You’ll have a small explanation about Polylepis Lodge importance as a unique place in the world.

  • DAY 3: Walk through PARAMO DE FRAILEJON, known as a unique ecosystem in the world, accompanied by a native tour guide. Then we’ll depart to Otavalo and its famous market (the most outstanding in South America) to find handmade woolen coats, colorful carpets, wood carvings, paints, silver jewelry, hats made of wool and straw and more. Return to Quito.

    DAY 4: Transfer to the airport for international flights.
